Waterford based guitarist and songwriter Liam Merriman has completed a busy 18 month period of work. His third album, The Night Is Huge, recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, and produced by Thomm Jutz, was released to critical acclaim:
“Inspired by Gordon Lightfoot, and Paul Simon… adding his own contemporary polish and a subtle Irish twist… reinforces Merriman as a premier league songwriter.” Hot Press 4 Star Review
Concert performance opportunities followed as support act on Nanci Griffith’s 2010 Irish tour:
“Liam Merriman - a wonderful songwriter - he writes beautiful songs”. Nanci Griffith
Liam also joined Sarah McQuaid, for some double bills during her Irish visit, and further afield, Merriman fitted in some interesting performances in England, France, Germany and Poland.
January 2011 sees a return to Nashville for more studio work, including contributing lead vocal on a new album of original songs about the American Civil War. Merriman will sing a song about the experiences of an Irish soldier caught up in the conflict.
He tours Ireland with guitarist, producer and songwriter Thomm Jutz during March 2011.
